Outfits Inspired By My Favorite Halloween Movies

There's no better way to spend a chilly fall day than cozied up with your favorite fall movie or comfort show. If you're like me, you have a list of favorites you watch every year around this time.

I wanted to give myself a creative little project and put together outfits inspired by each of my favorite fall shows and movies. No costumes or outfit recreations, just looks inspired by the aesthetic of each, how they make me feel when I watch them, or a styling I could see someone in that movie's "world" wearing.

Scroll through to see what I'm wearing and what I'm watching this fall and let me know if I missed any must-watch shows from your own list!

Sabrina the Teenage Witch (90's)

I've loved this show since I was a kid. It's fun and playful, there's a talking cat, a gorgeous house, and the style of all three Spellman ladies is impeccable!

A sheer top and tights under a plaid dress was something I could definitely see Sabrina wearing.

Hocus Pocus

This one was tricky to not venture into costume territory. I decided to play up the saturated color scheme of the movie and go for something a background character might wear in the world of Hocus Pocus. A loose, orange sweater, evergreen pants with a matching green velvet headband, and a pair of suede boots. I think the creepy black cat candle I thrifted a couple months ago really seals the deal on this one.

The Twilight Zone

A classic creepy show I love to watch and rewatch. But being an anthology series with the most neutral of color schemes, what outfit could possibly reflect the show as a whole? What did every episode have in common? Its narrator, Rod Serling, that's what.

I went with a feminine take on the suit he wore for the introduction to each episode.

Practical Magic

I think just about everyone fell in love with the style of this movie. Don't even get me started on that house!!

For my outfit, I chose a neutral color scheme with a pop of red and a belt buckle that reminds me of a beetle. Comfortable, flowy pieces worn in a structured way and a chocker necklace because I'm pretty sure one of the sisters was always wearing one.

After styling this look, I thrifted a dress that I thought very much fit the vibe of Practical Magic so I put together a second outfit inspired by the earthy, botanical elements of the movie. You can pick which look most fits Practical Magic.

What We Do In The Shadows (both the movie and show, but more so the show)

There are so many different characters, creatures, and time periods featured in this hilarious mockumentary so I focused on the aesthetic of the house and the main group of characters, then toned it down because, let's be honest, those vampires are a lot.

A black and red color scheme seemed fitting and the sleeves on this dress scream gothic, victorian, and extra.

I had a lot of fun styling these looks and rewatching my favorite shows this month. Let me know if you enjoyed this series too because I'd love to do it again with another genre!
